Hotel Info

Daintree Wilderness Lodge is an eco-accredited lodge that exists in harmony with nature. A true rainforest experience...

Found in a privileged location on Kuku Yalangi country, Daintree Wilderness Lodge stands amidst two World Heritage Listed areas, the Daintree National Park and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Prepare to explore hidden paths and boardwalks, discover swimming holes, spot rare bird and wildlife, or snorkel off Cape Tribulation. Walk amongst ancient ferns and towering forests, stand at the edge of million year old creeks and witness some of the earth’s rarest and most intriguing creatures. The region boasts the greatest variety of animals found anywhere in Australia. With white sand, clear blue water and lush rainforest, it is easy to see why this is such a unique holiday destination.

The Lodge was designed to ensure a harmony exists between humanity and the natural wildlife that exists in the Daintree Rainforest. By building the Lodge on walkways and stilts, guests can enjoy watching the wildlife from above and know that human presence will not disturb their natural habitat nor activity. There are a few Southern Cassowaries who regularly visit the Lodge. These "Protectors of the Daintree Rainforest" are a huge tourist attraction and a highlight to your rainforest experience.

Just seven cabins are spread out across the rainforest, accessible by timber walkways and are elevated above the ground to reduce their environmental footprint. Each eco-accredited cabin features a queen or twin beds, air conditioning, television with DVD, private ensuite and a balcony. The ideal spot in the middle of giant fan palms to enjoy a morning cuppa and watch the wildlife begin their day.

Restaurant
Cycads Restaurant is an experience in itself. The restaurant prefers to source local and seasonal produce which reduces environmental impact and supports local industries. Enjoy a unique dining experience where you are surrounded by a natural ancient masterpiece; where the lights are the constellations of the southern sky. The Lodge also has an Australiana bar serving all time favourites, local wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages.  Perfect to gather around after a day full of activities to share stories with friends new and old.

Sustainability
Guests may be reassured they can sustainably enjoy modern comforts whilst in this World Heritage Listed rainforest. Considerable effort has been taken to reduce environmental impact, including waste, pollution and destruction of the rainforest.

- Steps were taken during construction of the Lodge - trees were simply built around, with trees and vines growing through the floors and roofs.
- Bore spring water, supplies the entire resort with fresh water. It is completely safe to drink, is free from chlorine and is tested regularly.
- The Bio Cycle waste-water system was the first to be installed in this area and has since been adopted by many other local businesses as their preferred waste-water system.
- The Lodge runs on a Stand-Alone Solar Array system with battery and generator back up. This allows visitors to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep without the incessant hum in the background and reduces carbon emission into the atmosphere.
- Low-voltage, long-life LED globes, low voltage appliances and a restricted use air conditioning system is used to practice a low energy consumption experience.

Daintree Wilderness Lodge was awarded the Ecotourism Eco Certificate, illustrating the commitment and determination to achieve a standard in tourism that not only counterbalances the social and environmental impacts associated with travel but aims to make it better for the future generations.
